Bespoke Bride - Helen

Helen and I first met at a wedding show she and her fiancé Adam were attending to gather ideas for their wedding. We got along straight away and I could tell she was a very chilled out and relaxed bride. Helen has such great taste and put together their wedding day so beautifully, from the stunning woodland venue to the gorgeous floral arrangements everything looked incredible on their day.

Helen went to a few high street bridal shops to start her shopping and felt she couldn’t find anything that made her feel comfortable or ticked the boxes for what she was looking for. She came to me with ideas for what she wanted and we worked on various sketches of designs so we could encompass everything she loved into her look.

One of Helen’s main requirements was that she could change into a shorter dancing version of her dress for the evening. Helen and Adam had taken up dancing as a hobby and wanted to perform an epic first dance so she wanted something that would move amazingly. She also wanted to bring some colour into her look. We decided to go for bridal separates for Helen’s design so that we could bring all of her ideas together.

We opted for a beautiful crepe fabric which created the draped cowel neckline she loved for her bodice. This was finished with a low back and delicate cross over spaghetti straps. The bodice was built with a decent amount of structure so that Helen felt secure and didn’t need to wear a bra with it.

For her main outfit we created a full length skirt with layers of pale green satin, organza and embroidered lace on tulle. I sourced a variety of ‘leafy’ laces for Helen to choose from and we narrowed it down to three, which we then finalised during her first toile fitting. This lace is one of my favourite designs and I knew that the pattern of vines and florals would tie in with their woodland wedding venue beautifully. For her evening skirt we went for a circular skirt with plenty of volume in a matching crepe to her bodice, it moved beautifully and she could dance the night away as intended.

Helen is such a warm and easy personality to get along with It was a pleasure to work with her on her bespoke bridal design and bring her dreams to life. Congratulations on your marriage Helen and Adam, I wish you all the happiness in the world together.
